{Music Monday | My Morning Jacket}

This Thursday's Salt Lake Twilight concert features My Morning Jacket!
I had the pleasure of seeing them in 2010 at the Mile High Festival and was one of the best live performances I've seen. Jim James has such a soothing voice.

If you can, I highly recommend seeing this band live this week.  It will totally be worth it!
Happy Monday!

{Music Monday | Band of Horses}

Oh, how I love this band!!  I am sooo excited to be seeing them this

I recently stumbled across this B side song cover they did, "Am I A Good Man".
Enjoy!

{Music Monday | The Avett Brothers}

Good Monday y'all! I am hoping to survive this week.
It's gonna be madness at work and there are a few celebrations going on this next weekend.
 I am also hoping to squeeze in a little fun by catching these guys
in concert on Thursday at the Gallivan Center.
They are so fantastic live and put on such a crowd pleasingly energetic show.
Their songs make me feel happy.  Check them out and enjoy!

{Music Monday | Mat Kearney}

This song has made it into the regular rotation for my hooping practice.
Such a happy, upbeat song to dance to in the summer evenings :)

Hope y'all had a fun, relaxing weekend!

{Music Monday | The Head and the Heart}

So I downloaded the self titled album from The Head and the Heart this last week.  Honestly, I saw them open for Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds back in December of 2010.
I liked their stuff but found their live performance a bit too...energetic?  Silly, I know.
I decided to give them another shot and glad that I did.  I am really digging the mellow folksy sound.  Especially this tune, Winter Song.

Check them out if you like Gregory Alan Isokov or James Vincent McMorrow check them out!

What are you listening to today??

James Vincent McMorrow | Early in the Morning

I am completely obsessed with James Vincent McMorrow's album Early in the Morning.  It's sweet and soulful!  James wrote the songs over 5 months while living isolated in a house by the sea in Ireland.

“This record was borne out of my desire to create something singular, take the simplest of chords, wrap them in washes of melody, so lines come in, they drop out, everything ebbs and flows as the songs move towards their inevitable end. I don’t sit down with an agenda when I write, I usually have a first line, and a vague sense in my head of where I’m going, but no real solid structure. Music tends to reveal itself to me over the course of weeks and months. It’s probably quite like sculpting, you have a chisel, you know what’s waiting for you inside the stone, all that’s left is to chip away the pieces and reveal it.”  -James via www.jamesvmcmorrow.com

It's been on repeat on my iPod for weeks.
A few of my favorite songs are If I Had a Boat, We Don't Eat and Sparrow & the Wolf.
If you like the sound of Bon Iver, Ray LaMontagne or Sufjan Stevens, please check him out!

{Baxter Hooping}

This is Baxter and he is one badass ninja hooper. He started The Hoop Path out of Carrboro, NC.  His style is very meditative and he encourges you to practice blindfolded, a techinque that I have used a lot. I took a workshop from him in January and was instantly welcomed into the hooping family. I excited to be "going home" at the end of the month for the Hoop Path retreat in North Carolina for many days (and nights)of workshops, dancing and craziness!!

{ Got It * Brecken Rivara }

This is Brecken Rivara. She is one of the most ingenious, bad ass hoopers out there. She really thinks outside the box when it comes to movement and the hoop. Oh, to be able to move like her! This new demo video makes me giddy...

*Warning: song contains an explicit lyric
So if you have sensitive ears, just watch without sound! It's that awesome :)

{Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise}

When nothing is owed, deserved or expected
And your life doesn't change by the man that's elected

If you're loved by someone you're never rejected
Decide what to be and go be it.

There was a dream
One day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And there was a kid, with a head full of doubt
So I scream til I die or the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

This is the latest song on repeat for me.
The song's message modivates me to keep moving forward!
(P.S. Excited to see them again in Septemeber. They are fantastic!)

Birds on a Wire

Jarbas Agnelli, from Sao Paulo Brazil, is a film director and musician. He came across the picture of birds sitting on electrical wires in a newspaper. Curious to see what music the birds were creating, he used the birds locations on the wire as notes. This is what he came up with.

:: Ventin' and Shufflin' ::

So I am very frustrated and am takin' to the blog to vent about it.

I took kitty Emma in last Thursday for testing. She does not like going to the vet. She cowered and shed like crazy the whole time we were there. The nurses weighed her and took her temp and said she looked like she was in good health. We waited over an HOUR to see the vet. I guess they are just like every other doctor's office requiring you to wait for-ever to be seen. Do you know how hard it is to keep a freaking out cat calm and immobile for that long? Not fun. The vet told me that they would take blood and do testing to make sure it wasn't an infection or liver problems causing the seizures. If the tests came back clean they would then discuss options of treatments for epilepsy. I had other issues with Emma that I had asked to address but the vet seemed very busy and only spent a couple minute actually speaking with me and interacting with Em's before she disappeared. I then waited for them to come back and speak with me but was left there. I finally had to go ask if there was anything else needed or if Emma was done. After paying $200 (of money I didn't have to spare) they informed me they would call with the results the next day. Friday 4:30 p.m. and I haven't heard from the vet's office. I call and am informed the vet has "stepped out" and will call me with the results when she gets back in. I never heard back from them. I called again Monday afternoon and got the run around from 2 different people before someone checked on the results. I was told that her kidney function was stressed but if she seemed to be recovering otherwise I had nothing to worry about. I asked if I was to come back in to discuss treatments and was told that to just keep an eye on her until she had ANOTHER seizure...then to bring her back in. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I paid $200 to have them tell me to wait for another seizure?! I am not happy about this AT ALL! Part of this is my fault for not being more proactive but I am completely unsatisfied with the treatment and so-called service provided at Animal Medical Services. So to you AMS...I will be taking Emma elsewhere for treatment in the future.

On to some happier fun! I found this on Ashlee's blog and thought it sounded silly and entertaining.

Play along if you feel! Link in the comments so I can see your lists.

This song makes me want to dance.
The video makes me want to dance on the streets of NYC at night!
