Finally getting around to posting the last of the final projects from this semester. First there was the oil landscape....

I will NOT be using oils in the future....
I didn't like it.
At all.
Moving on....

I really tried to keep it loose with these watercolors. I found that I liked combining the watercolor with ink. I will definitely be experimenting more with these two mediums!!

I have lots of projects and ideas swirling around in my head for the near future...
more to come soon!!

My awesome and amazing friends, Chloe and Maddie, threw a fabulous BBQ for my birthday this weekend! There was yummy food, a very cutely decorated cake and even a chocolate fountain with many yummy treats to drench in chocolatey goodness.

Thanks for manning the BBQ Sean!

Afterwards, we did a little competitive bowling. My team, Team Kick Assy, was defeated by the formative Team Z-Rex! Then we watched The Rocker to finish up the fun evening. A good time was had by all! Thanks again you guys!!

I've finished some of the projects I've been working on. Can I tell you how excited I am for this semester to be over?! I was in over my head with my classes.

This is the finished self portrait in oil. It was definately a fun process but that right eye...grrr... Oh well.

I also finished Logan....

I liked doing this one. I have one of my little cousin, Brinlee wearing easter bunny ears, I want to tackle next. (Just for you Court!)

This is an oil painting I had to do on the planes of the head. It's not as finished as I would like but generally like how it looks.

And finally here is a landscape in progress for oil. It still needs some dry brush highlights and details.

I'm off to tackle some figure drawings and enjoy the sunshine!!

First off...hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a fun and relaxing one. I went with Beth, Chloe, Cam and Mike to see Brett Dennen in concert. He was very entertaining. And the opening artist AMAZING! From the first song, we were like who are these people? Where do we get their CD? Turned out to be a brother and sister from Australia named Angus and Julia Stone. Check out their music www.AngusandJuliaStone.com

Next, I worked on my Logan portrait today. It's coming along! Coloring is still off but still working on the layering. Progressed on some of the facial features with the mouth and shading of the nose. Have one more week to finish this one up!

Last but not least....My terrificly talented friend Maddie is doing free couple portraits for a chosen few!  Maybe you?! Check it out here. Yeah!!

I'm starting this blog as a place to post my wins and failures on my art journey. This first post is a work in progress piece for my watercolor class.

It's a portrait from a picture of my nephew, Logan.

So far, I'm pleased with the way it is coming along. I really am trying to push aside the fear of mucking it up and just go with the flow when it comes to adding and blending the colors. I am also going with bolder color choices and built up layers. More to come as the piece progresses!

PS.. Sorry about the horrible pics. Maddie...I need your help. Blah!
